I decided to write a review about diagnostics in Korea. At one time they themselves looked for reviews and could not find it. My husband and I ordered an examination in Korea for his mother. Mom is 61 years old, was treated for colon cancer in St. Petersburg. There was an operation in the fall and then 6 courses of chemotherapy. Relatives advised to take her to Korea for a follow-up examination in order to find out the opinion of their specialists about the result of treatment, whether it is necessary to continue chemotherapy and, in general, what are the prognosis. We chose Samsung clinic in Seoul. The survey in South Korea is of course very well organized. We only needed documents. And so the coordinators of the clinic suggested everything, showed them, accompanied them to all the rooms for examinations, translated everything, by the way there are no queues here. We lived in a room for two, there was everything we needed: two beds, bed linen, a large wardrobe with hangers, a table, a bathroom with a shower, toilet and even a TV with Russians! channels. I recently had an operation at the Anam clinic. I came to the doctor with a vision of -3, and went home already with 100%. I went to Chung-An university hospital for my routine check-up, and later I came to know that I had stage two stomach cancer. I was shocked because I was taking complete care of my health and was checking up on my reports. However, my doctor informed me that it was not dangerous as the tumors could be eradicated completely at that stage with minimally invasive surgery. The oncologist suggested gastrectomy for tumor removal. After two days, I had surgery, and they kept me in the hospital for a week to monitor my condition. I had a Lumpectomy done 6 months ago when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The doctors told me that since it was localized this was the best option. 6 months later I started feeling a lump in my breast. This scared me so I visited my doctor and told her about the lump in my follow-up appointment. She suggested to get a PET-CT scan done. Turns out the was starting to grown again but the doctor caught it in time. I had to get a few sessions of radiotherapy done.

My mother developed multiple myeloma at the age of 55 years. We were discouraged by the doctors as her prognosis was poor. Her condition was getting worse so we thought of getting treatment abroad. We had some relatives in South Korea and they always told us about the international hospitals present there. So we thought to give it a try and I started to research about the hospitals and the best doctors there. I came to know about Prof. Dr. Jong Ho Won. We flew to Seoul and visited SoonChungHyang Hospital. The only issue we had there was the communication gap as we weren't that fluent in English. Dr. Jong Ho Won was very accommodating and after proper diagnosis, he started her treatment. He told us that now medicine has evolved and there are more new therapies that can increase her prognosis. During the treatment, there was a visible difference in my mother’s health and now she is doing much better than before. We are still in contact with the doctor and I am happy that we chose to travel to Korea for her treatment.

The lady at the international clinic was not helpful despite the obvious error on their side. I decided to call the referring department directly to plead my case. That’s when I found out that the lady from the international clinic had called the department personnel right after she hung up with me and antagonized the nature of my request. Basically, after that, I had no chance to plead my case with the department. They would hang up the phone when they recognize my phone number on the caller ID.
Perhaps it was the unpleasant tone of my voice that caused this to happen. Nevertheless, no patient should be treated with lesser quality care simply because he/she is frustrated with the system. I’ve never been strategically antagonized like this before by any institution or any other organization. This deliberate mistreatment made me think about their level of commitment toward the patients and the customers. I can’t say anything bad about the medical treatments that I received from the place over the years. All the doctors that I’ve dealt with in the past have been nothing but positive.
With the growing international population within Korea each year, many foreigners seek to find quality medical care that is dependable and reliable. After this event, I can’t say that I would recommend Soonchunhyang Hospital as one that anyone can rely on when it comes to their overall service.

My husband’s health was deteriorating because of stomach cancer and the chances of his survival were decreasing day by day. We were in search of a good hospital for him with the latest medical technologies and proficient staff. We were recommended to the KUIMS hospital by a friend as he also got his cancer treatment from there. We went to the hospital and consulted Dr. Chang. She patiently listened to all of my husband’s symptoms and treatment responses. My husband’s treatment started right away after the diagnostics and there was an improvement in his condition. The spread of cancer slowed down at first and then the tumor started to shrink. Dr. Chang told us that it was a good sign and there is a fair chance of having control over it. With consistent chemotherapy with the combination of other treatment options, the final report of his PET scan was clear and there was no sign of cancer. This was a miracle for us and there was a huge contribution from Dr. Chang and her team who took care of him this whole time.

After test results, I was diagnosed with the first stage of prostate cancer which was progressing rapidly. As I had cancer in my family history and many of my relatives lost their lives due to this disease painfully. I was very worried but luckily, Dr. Gyun calmed me and discussed all the treatment options. I wasn’t in favor of radiation so he gave me suggestions to get cryotherapy. The chances of cancer riddance were higher so I agreed. I was scheduled for surgery next week. The procedure took 2 hours and the results were great.
