- If you are taking any medication, then discuss with the doctor whether to discontinue that before the scan.
- Do not bring any jewelry, watches, or other metal items, as they can interfere with the scan results.

How is PET MRI Done?
Spanish doctors are highly trained and guide patients to have a comfortable scan using the following techniques:
- The patient lies down on a table and removes any metal objects for safety. The doctor injects a special dye (tracer) to highlight how different body parts work.
- After that, the patient moves into a large, tube-like machine for both MRI and PET scans. The doctor requests the patient to remain still during the scan to ensure accurate images.
- Furthermore, the radiologist combines images to diagnose conditions. The scan takes 1-2 hours and is an outpatient procedure. The scan report takes 24-48 hours.
What Happens After PET MRI?
- Take it easy for the rest of the day, and drink plenty of water to flush out the contrast dye.
- Resume your normal diet and continue taking prescribed medications unless told otherwise.
- Although it is safe to drive, avoid strenuous activities for the rest of the day.
- Mild side effects like headaches or nausea are rare, but listen to your body and rest if needed.
- Keep an eye on the injection site for redness or swelling.
- Schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss the results. The doctor will inform you about the treatment plan based on the scan results.
Risks of PET MRI
Although the procedure is completely safe, there are a few risks, including:
- Allergic reaction to contrast agents
- Discomfort or anxiety
- Potential interference with implanted medical devices
- Claustrophobia for some individuals
