WHAT IS NEPHROBLASTOMA?
Nephroblastoma (Wilms tumor) is one of the most aggressive forms of kidney cancer. The disease accounts for 5.5% of all childhood cancers. Mostly children from one to 5 years old are ill (68% - from 1 to 5 years, 16% - up to 1 year). Less often, nephroblastoma is diagnosed in adolescents; in adults, the disease practically does not occur.
The tumor occurs in primitive tissues during intrauterine development. Most often, the neoplasm consists of cells of the renal tissue, but there are also tumors containing immature cells of epithelial, cartilaginous, or muscle tissue. In most cases, one kidney is affected, in 5% of cases, both kidneys are affected.
Nephroblastoma has a very high grade of malignancy, grows rapidly, and gives metastases. In most cases, the tumor spreads to the lymph nodes and lungs close to the kidneys. In about 10% of children, metastases are found during the diagnosis of the disease.
SYMPTOMS OF NEPHROBLASTOMA

RADIATION THERAPY
