Dr. Antonio María de Lacy Fortuny is one the most experienced and successful gastrointestinal surgeon well-known for his 30 years of experience in laparoscopic surgeries. Dr. Antonio has performed myriad of successful procedures and treatments of colon cancer, rectal cancer, liver cancer, stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, and other abdominal diseases. Achievements:
- Dr. Antonio Maria De Lacy is the first Spanish Surgeon who did Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) in which he removed the gall bladder of a patient through his mouth.
- He was also the first surgeon in his country who did Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) in Obesity Surgery (2009).
- He also has the honor of being the first Spanish surgeon who resected rectal tumors through the anus (2010).
- He received the SAGES International Ambassador Award in 2017.
- Dr. Antonio Maria De Lacy is the first surgeon to treat esophageal cancer through laparoscopy and thoracoscopy.
