Dr. Andrés Varela de Ugarte is a thoracic oncological surgery national consultant. He has worked in the fields of thoracic surgery and lung transplantation for over 30 years. Lung transplantation, oncological lung surgery, tracheal surgery, and surgical repair of chest wall abnormalities are among his professional interests.

Educational Background

Dr. Andrés Varela de Ugarte got a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Madrid, June 1978.
Then he completed his specialization from the same institute in1983.

Professional career

Dr. Andrés worked as a specialist in Thoracic Surgery by MRI system (Internal Resident Physician) at the Jiménez Díaz Foundation from 1979 to 1983.
He was Head of Section of Thoracic Surgery-Lung Transplantation at Puerta de Hierro Clinic, Madrid from 1996 to 2007.
He served as a Chief of the Thoracic Surgery-Lung Transplantation Service at H.U. Puerta De Hierro Majadahonda from 2008 to the Present.
He was Facultative Specialist in the Thoracic Surgery Area at Hospital Nuestra Señora del Pino, Las Palmas.
He is now associated with Quirón Salud University Hospital (Madrid)
