I got up one morning with half of my face paralyzed. It was horrible! I rushed to the hospital, where they diagnosed me with cerebral palsy. Fortunately, someone mentioned Dr. Göçmen. I have been treated for lung cancer for several years. So I want to compare my experience of radiation therapy in my native country and in Turkey. They are radically different. When my daughter, who lives in Turkey, suggested that I consult with their oncologist friend, I was skeptical about this. I was especially upset when radiation therapy was prescribed - after irradiation at home, I felt very bad. However, I was able to see by my own example how far Turkish medicine has gone forward. When, after the session, I began to wait for the deterioration of the condition, I was surprised, because it was not there. Of course, I experienced some discomfort afterwards, but it’s not like being at home when I couldn’t get out of bed. As my doctor explained to me, the difference is that the new machine at the Liv Clinic allows the tumor to be targeted precisely at the tumor and does not irradiate the surrounding tissue. In general, my sincere recommendation to cancer patients is that if possible, it is better to undergo irradiation abroad.

What is Cancer Screening?
The search for a malignant neoplasm or precancerous cells in a person who has no signs of a tumor is known as cancer screening. In some situations, these tests aid in the early detection of diseases, when many types of cancer can be totally treated. The emergence of complaints in a patient could signal the growth and spread of a malignant tumor, and hence a worsening of the patient's prognosis. Role of Cancer Screening in Early Diagnosis

How Cancer Screening is performed in Turkey?

The procedure of these tests is rather simple and no preparations are required before them and people can simply go home the same day after they undergo these simple tests. Many different methods of prophylactic screening for early detection of cancer have been proposed.
However, it turned out that not all of them are beneficial. Thus, regular routine chest x-rays do not reduce mortality from lung cancer, and palpation of the mammary glands does not reduce mortality from breast cancer.
However, the following tests are proven effective for detecting precancerous cells for these cancers:
Cervix cancer screening
Cytological examination of smears for detecting precancerous cells of the cervix.
Colorectal cancer screening
Screening for colon cancer is done by colonoscopy, early analysis of feces for occult blood and colonoscopy can both detect abnormal cells that can become cancerous. Plus blood test screening for colon cancer can also screen for cancer cells.
Prostate cancer screening
Men over 45 years are recommended to undergo a digital rectal examination or PSA test to ensure no cancer cells develop in the future. Prostate cancer screening blood tests are also used widely.
Screening tests for ovarian cancer
Pelvic exams or pap tests are used to detect abnormal cells in females genitalia.
Breast cancer screening mammography
Mammography (ultrasound screening for breast cancer) is used for breast cancer. If you are at risk due to heredity or other factors, you may also be prescribed an MRI. Women under 40 are recommended to undergo mammography every 2 years, and after 40 years annually.
Lung cancer screening
Ct scan for lung cancer screening can be performed to detect precancerous lesions in the lungs however, ct chest lung cancer screening tests have nearly no effect in reducing death due to lung cancer
