Best Angiosarcoma Clinics in Turkey
The cancer of blood vessels known as Angiosarcoma is a fast-growing tumor. This tumor can grow inside and on the surface of many organs, epithelial angiosarcoma, angiosarcoma of skin, and angiosarcoma of the liver are some common examples. Angiosarcoma accounts for 3.3% of all soft tissue sarcomas.
The tumor has symptoms of purplish bruise or swelling over the skin however this type of cancer can also be developed inside the vessels of organs. The average angiosarcoma survival rates are between 40%-50%, while in the case of angiosarcoma metastatic tumors the rates drop to 16%-30% depending on the degree of metastasis.
Cancer angiosarcoma is a serious disease that requires complex step-by-step treatment. Studies have shown that the prognosis of survival in patients with angiosarcoma is better if therapy is carried out in specialized medical centers.
Turkish doctors have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of this type of tumor. Every year Turkish clinics admit a large number of patients diagnosed with angiosarcoma, especially breast cancer angiosarcoma, which has helped them develop effective therapeutic protocols and introduce innovative treatment methods.

What is angiosarcoma?
Angiosarcoma is a rare cancer that forms in the walls of blood and lymph vessels. This oncology accounts for about 3.3% of all types of soft tissue cancers. Most often, angiosarcoma forms on the scalp and neck, but sometimes the tumor can grow from the breast, heart, lungs, soft tissues. Angiosarcoma is more common in adults than in children.
The treatment protocols for angiosarcoma, which are followed in Turkish clinics, depend on the type and location of the tumor, as well as the age of the patient and the stage of the disease. These include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.
Diagnosis of angiosarcoma in Turkey
Diagnosing angiosarcoma remains challenging. Because of the nonspecificity of symptoms, it is difficult to differentiate angiosarcoma from other malignant neoplasms.
If you suspect angiosarcoma, doctors may prescribe the following tests:
MRI
MRI can detect vascular lesions. This is used to assess the tumor response to preoperative radiation or chemotherapy.
Mammogram
For angiosarcoma of the breast, mammography can detect tissue hardening. However, this method is only 67% effective.
CT scan
Computed tomography results for angiosarcoma usually reveal non-specific soft tissue mass, similar to muscle mass.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is often used to check for damage to internal organs. Contrast ultrasound is effective in diagnosing liver angiosarcoma.
PET for angiosarcoma
It is used as an additional diagnostic method to clarify the stage of the tumor.
Histopathology
The most reliable tool for diagnosing angiosarcoma. The doctor collects a sample of the tumor with a special needle in order to examine it under a microscope. If the tumor is on the surface of the skin, a scalpel is used.
Modern technologies are used in diagnostics in Turkey. They allow you to detect a tumor with a higher accuracy than the equipment used in clinics in the developing countries. In addition, patients can take advantage of the advice of oncologists. Their experience allows for an accurate diagnosis in difficult cases. Another advantage is the absence of long queues. The patient can undergo a full diagnosis within 1-3 days, and immediately begin treatment.
Angiosarcoma treatment in Turkey
In the therapy of angiosarcoma, doctors in Turkey take a multidisciplinary approach meaning that each case is managed by a team of specialists from different fields - oncology, radiology, vascular surgery, etc. This ensures versatile patient support and care.
The methods used by Turkish doctors in the treatment of angiosarcoma:
Operation
Operation is the main method of treatment for all variants of angiosarcoma. Even with metastatic angiosarcoma, it can be effective in controlling the primary focus. To achieve more accurate results, doctors may perform preoperative mapping. The procedure consists of a series of biopsies that are taken near the underlying tumor. For angiosarcoma of the breast, a mastectomy is usually performed without removing the lymph nodes.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is used to treat the systemic spread of angiosarcoma. Preoperative chemistry is performed in cases where the tumor cannot be removed completely by surgery.
Radiotherapy
Angiosarcoma responds well to radiation therapy. Combined with surgery, it produces aesthetically pleasing results. Radiation therapy is contraindicated in some elderly patients.
Some Turkish hospitals, such as Liv Clinic, use the Acuros XB program during treatment planning. It calculates the optimal radiation dose for the patient, thus reducing side effects.
Benefits of Angiosarcoma Treatment in Turkey
- 30-40% cheaper than in the USA or the EU;
- High percentage of success of operations;
- Experienced doctors;
- Modern diagnostic and treatment technologies;
- JCI and ISO certified clinics;
- High level of patient care.
Prognosis of angiosarcoma
Angiosarcoma is an aggressive cancer that grows and spreads rapidly. In more than 50% of patients at the time of diagnosis, the disease has spread to distant parts of the body.
The five-year survival rate for angiosarcoma is 30-40%, regardless of the patient's gender or age.
More positive prognosis in patients with superficial tumors without necrotic process.
Risk factors for recurrent angiosarcoma:
- start of treatment at 3rd-4th stage of the disease,
- inability to completely remove the tumor with surgery,
- common pathological process.
Even if the prognosis is poor, treating angiosarcoma can increase life expectancy and relieve symptoms of the disease.
Best Turkish Hospitals for treatment of angiosarcoma
